Now if you are wondering what social bookmarking sites are, they are the ones which send you traffic before even Google or any search engine does. If you use it the right way, then you can get thousands of people to your site very quickly. But don’t over do bookmarking. Start slowly and then make the process more efficient.

Social bookmarking sites allow you create a user profile where you can store your bookmarks or the votes you gave for any site. You can also add friends to your profile and talk to them. Few social bookmarking sites like StumbleUpon and Digg allows you to ask for votes through something called the “Shoutout”.

Here are some of the best social bookmarking/voting sites:

Digg: Digg is one of the biggest social voting sites and it has a very large number of people. Not all type of posts do well in Digg. If your site is about technology, there are more chances of your story to become famous and hence get you more traffic. If you have a site which is about making money, then it is a little tough to get your site famous there. But if your story becomes popular in Digg, you will receive a minimum of 10,000 visitors and you might even get 75,000 visitors if your story is about Apple iPod or Mac computer.

StumbleUpon: StumbleUpon is a site which can send traffic to your site no matter which niche your site belongs to. Even four votes can get you 100 visitors which is not possible in Digg. StumbleUpon has the potential to send 10,000 visitors to your site if your article is voted by many people.

Del.icio.us: Del.icio.us is a site which has the ability to send targeted visitors to your site. The traffic from Del.icio.us is same like StumbleUpon and it will even send you traffic long term.

There are many more social bookmarking sites and the above are the best ones. Check the previously posted chart which will help you choose the best social bookmarking sites.

This is a guest post by Jason - Jason Pereira blogs at The University Kid… grab the feed!

Good content is everything when running a blog. Well, that’s if you want real people to actually read it, of course.

The problem with most new bloggers is that they may start out with fascinating content, but no one reads it… why? Probably because their post titles aren’t up to scratch, and even though your post may be the greatest blog post of all time, if no one reads beyond the title it’s not worth much.

Here’s some tips to supercharge your post title and thus make sure that people scroll down to see the rest of the post.

Use List Titles

Titles that use list formats usually do well. For example ‘7 Hot Ways To Boost RSS Subscriber Count’ would do far better than just ‘Ways To Get More RSS Subscribers’ – even if the posts are the same!

Lists are not just far easier to read, but also have a better chance of being picked up by other blogs as people read it, debate it and add points of their own.

Over-exaggerate

Don’t do this all the time, as overdoing it will hurt your blog; however a good way to create posts that people read are by using powerful words.

Which title below would you be more apt to read?

DESTROY Your Competition – Read Below!

or

How You Can Better Your Competition

For me, it’s the former. Everyone loves superlatives, especially in the world of blogging – heck, I’d rather ‘destroy’ my competition than just ‘better’ it.

Exact Amounts

If you’re writing a post about increasing metrics, why not show how exactly your tips have benefited you? Here’s another example – which would you be more likely to read?

Learn How I Made $550.00 Yesterday With Craigslist Marketing

or

Make Money On Craigslist

Despite the former being longer, I’d probably opt for it – and this is whether you’re talking about any kind of metric, be it revenue, traffic, subscribers etc.

These are three simple, yet effective ways that I have personally used to make sure that people do click through and read my posts – and guess what, I tend to receive more comments than blogs of a similar level due to this.

Use post titles that appeal to your readers and evoke their emotions and you’ll get them reading, commenting and subscribing. Who said blogging was difficult?

Every blogger knows that the best way to generate comments is to reply to comments. Smart bloggers know to reply to comments in their comment section, rather than via a private email. Not only does this encourage a repeat visit — particularly if you’ve installed a plug-in that lets users subscribe to comments — but it demonstrates to other potential commenters that you’re interested, interactive and engaged.

But let’s face it, sometimes those comments hit your InBox when you’re just too busy to reply. What then?

Then, my friends, you use Hit Me Later which acts like a snooze button for your InBox. All you have to do is forward the comment to X@hitmelater.com, replacing X with the number of hours — or the day of the week — when you want that comment sent back to you. Voila, it goes away and returns at a time of your choosing.

So let’s say you’re sitting at your computer at 1 o’clock in the afternoon but really prefer to start your mornings around 7 a.m. by replying to commenters while your creative juices awaken? Forward the day’s comments to 18@hitmelater.com and you’ll clean up your InBox for that afternoon while scheduling your replies to suit your morning mail routine. The service is free, there’s no registration required, and both your email address and the original senders remain private.

Gawd, I just lurves the internet.
